BBC Children in Need On-screen Presentation

Giving the on-screen presentation of BBC's Children In Need a much needed update! (November 2020)

Hi all! I watched Children in Need last night on BBC One and was astounded by the lack of care and attention the BBC give to the brand and identity. The set hasn't changed in what must be about 5 years and the on screen graphics look stale and old now.

The BBC have seriously neglected CiN for years now, it’s in dire need of an update. The on-screen graphics aren't consistent with the Children In Need branding. It actually comes across as, "please donate money to a cause that we (the BBC) clearly don’t care about as much anymore!" It's such a shame.

Anyway, I've sat down this rainy afternoon to create a quick update to the on-screen presentation. Let me know your thoughts. If it's got legs I might take it further and start animating more bits.

Go easy on me, I only spent an hour doing this Very Happy

Haha, thanks guys! 😉 Took a little over an hour, the animated DOG took about a third of the time on its own!

Looks nice, though the symbol at the end of a drawn line gives me flashbacks. Also you've completely ignored the text element so what would you use for that?

Thanks man! I was basically just playing around with a line draw animation for the DOG. I deliberately left out the text element just to show how the line would animate in and out for one example. If I take it any further I’ll probably create a full version with all the content of the current DOG. 😊

Wonderful work!
It freshens up the TV brand and most importantly links it to the campaign, I wonder if similar would have been done if it weren’t for the pandemic.

All in all a wonderful uniting of the brands, especially the animation!

That is brilliant. And so much better than they used. It's also inkeeping with their pin badges and website which felt like a different organisation this year.
