A "proper" set of titles (June 2018)

The orange glowing sun image in the 2nd example makes me feel as though I'm about to enter my death in the sun's corona

Now that you've said that, I can't unsee the "flaming death by sun" that I've accidentally created! But the pointer to Newsday was a good one, less intense orange, maybe with some blues/purples/yellows added in to tone it down (a lot).
Ittr, DeMarkay and Newsroom24 gave kudos

First concept was better executed than the second 'sun' video, it just looks cheaper (but as you say it's an initial concept)

First concept works well - long enough to be considered titles, but short enough to be a nice and snappy intro.

Still think though however nice the titles are until they sort the studio out they'll never really matter.

I've had another attempt at the 2nd example, to make it less "sun's corona"... aim once i've got this bit right is to build it into a full "intro"

Whilst I don't mean to thread-nap, here's my version which is a bit less inside the sun and closer to the real thing. Happy to share the AE comp with you if you'd like.

Really, really excellent - my only comment is that the music at the '06:00' hour might be very slightly too loud compared to the presenter's voices.

I'd also be interested in seeing a full sequence including proposed opening titles.

But really not a lot more I can say Bail - 5/5 from me.

If you don't mind that would be awesome. The part I've always struggled with is the "cats cradle" of place names so I usually just give up with it!

Easy way to cheat. Make a null object, make it 3D and centred. Make a text layer, make it 3D, make the position "wiggle(0,X)" where X is a random value about the size of your comp. Parent it to the null. Animate the null. Easys.

Hi Guys,

James Mobbs has uploaded full HD versions of his 'titles' for BBC Breakfast 2018 onto his website!

I've made quite a few changes to this version, not least trying to get a better "glow" on the globe (what is simple in AE is most definitely not in other applications). Bit of trial and error on that, along with making the globe a bit, well, shiny and this is where I've got to now.
