BBC Breakfast

What if it had moved to NBH? (July 2014)

I've touched on this before, but back then my SketchUp skills were not to good. This is to show off one of my 'redone' W1 Sets but also to show what it could be like if BBC Breakfast had stayed with BBC News and moved to NBH. Studio B could easily have been used by BBC Breakfast given to it's Soft Area, Versatility and lack of use until 1200, although obviously we know that Breakfast is to stay in its tiny 'L' Shaped Studio in Salford rather than have use of BBC News's facilities and proper TV Studios in London.

Looks very nice, lovely and spacious and uses the full studio space well.

I think that the weather would be better presented from a plasma then a green screen, in my own opinion.

It's a good start, but I think it looks too grey, there isn't enough orange I don't think.

Looks great and I suspect sooner or later Breakfast will find it's way back to London under the guise of cost cutting. I'm sure they'd find something else to send up to Salford in exchange.

Not a criticism of your mock but more an observation of an increasing trend but anyone else get annoyed by these fake empty backdrops. I miss the days of people walking up the stairs at precisely the same time every single day.

Totally agree! I miss real backdrops.. that's what makes studio E so appealing!

That's quite vague, could you perhaps tell me where there should be more orange.

The original plan for that studio was for a line of screens along that wall, and I suspect if they hadn't moved Breakfast up north they would have remained.

In fact they still have one screen that they occasionally bring into the Studio and place there, so that is possible.

On Sundays, of course, BBC Breakfast wouldn't be able to come from Studio B because The Andrew Marr Show is using Studio B for Rehearsals and Pre-Records. So on Sundays BBC Breakfast would have to come from Studio E, the News Channel Studio (like it used to at TVC).

The orange bar strips, I don't know what they are called, above the 3 plasmas, they are permanently red in Studio E so I'm not quite sure they'll be able to change to orange.

In theory, if breakfast were to move back to London i'm sure they'd change it if needed Wink.....

The plastic covering over the lightbox is red in Studio E, as it is in Studio C, Studio B and in Cardiff. All the lightbox frontings are red in colour.

In fact since Newsnight don't light up the Coffee Table in full anymore you can see it, on air.
