BBC 2020 Rebrand Project

When the ongoing pandemic winds down a bit, and the schedule sees a gradual return to pre-March circulation, we'll have to see. If anything, the (potential) new look could possibly be unveiled at like 6am in the morning (in the pre-Breakfast junction).

Okay, After moments of researching, I've managed to contact the BBC (via the "Contact the BBC Board" section) regarding my hard work. I'm not sure whether to show my letter to the BBC to you guys, but I did point out the BBC's upcoming 100th birthday, as well as including the links to this masterpiece (including the two concepts I've concieved). When and if I get a response, I'll let you guys know what they think!

Yeah, I do apologize if that came out a bit over-ambitious there.

Let’s get real — what you’ve made is not a masterpiece, and the BBC are not going to be adopting what you’ve created. Go and have a look at the highest rated mocks in The Gallery, they truly are masterpieces.

There are some very strong elements to this mock but, in the same breath, there’s a lot of improvement that could be made as well, and in my honest opinion it’s not currently something you’d see on screen.

Point made. This is where the possibility of a second BBC concept (a sequel thread) comes into play. I’ve read about Mdtauk and his efforts to create consistent branding across the BBC. He spread his ideas through separate threads and in his words: “fumbled for a strong idea”. I’m taking on the same spirit as him all those years ago.

I have fumbled around with a few concepts, ultimately settling with a stylised wordmark. I experimented with it a little bit, and I realised that had slightly more potential than the “square” rebrand. That again is for a separate thread (as with an ITV refresh mock I have planned), so the legacy of the square lives on, along with the strong elements within it (eg. my final improvement of the BBC News lower thirds - the boxless one, the revised idents, and the Cbeebies redesign).

It’s very unlikely that the BBC will adopt your work seen in this thread. It’s even more unlikely they’ll even read your letter.

Please don't. The response (if you get any) might not be what you imagine.

I like your work on this mock but the arrogance “masterpiece” tempts me to lower my rating. Sorry

I've had people ask me before [and from my own free will!] to send my ideas to the big boys - I don't think I ever actually did so because laziness.

Regardless, it's not much of a good idea to do that. Like dbl said, the response might not be as imagined.

I'm sure they'll do something for their centennial, but a full scale rebrand...

It's in the cards, but I doubt they'll deal it.
