Very nice.

Well, I've done some thinking on how to make this mock look better: By polishing up the BBC brand further. This means following some previous advice you've given me, and by that, here's an evaluation on what I may decide on implementing:

*

I like your metro-styled logo; I think that shows a lot of promise.
I think the rounded rectangle logo would look better if the letters were close together, as I think they look a bit odd spaced apart.

Yeah, the closer letters thing seems like a good idea

I'm back.

Sorry for the delay, but I can blame that mostly because of this site's technical problems and eventual redesign, which looks awesome. I've spent all day managing how to implement both of my BBC concept idea further. I mainly focused on the first idea, but both of them look good in their own right. Here's how the two ideas play out in their respective branding ideas. (please note, that I'm focusing on primary brands here, with other brand to follow once I decide which one shows the most potential)

Concept 1:

Concept 2:

So, to summarize, I've opted for a horizontal, back-to-basics method for Concept 1. This means that a majority of the BBC channels and brands (except the six flagship radio stations) are in the horizontal style that was in play for channels like BBC One from 1997-2002-and I've managed to reduce the gap between the letters in between the logo's text.

For Concept 2, I've focused mainly on icons to express the BBC's channels, brands and radio stations. These icons would benefit very well on social media platforms, and is primarily written in lowercase, which also fits very well.

Wow! The first CBBC logo redesign is amazing

I love the lowercase concept too!

Personal opinion here:

The symbol for One doesn't look good.

I also see you've gone the route of renaming iPlayer, too...

...and maybe a long rounded rectangle for CBeebies instead of individual blocks.

I'm just detailing what I would do.

Well, don’t you worry. If I choose that concept, These are flaws I’ll certainly be tweaking.

I love both concepts to be fair, I feel like concept 1 is more of a realistic evolution but I also love the metro concept 2 which feels like the complete revamp that some of us crave.

Personally, the first concept seems stronger and more thought out. Ironically while the second designs have individual icons, it doesn’t feel as impactful. Two we know because of the current branding but I think from a face value, some may not recognise it as two. I also think because we know 2 and 3 are existing brands, 1 and 4 feel very flat. The radio brands also feel lacking in personality. I love the idea of having these app logos but for some it doesn’t work, Sport in this case feels a little basic.

The first batch however still retain the personality of the brands, I’m still not massively into Scotland being in lowercase but I do like the icon in the ‘o’. I also think the radio logos look nicer now they’ve been taken away from the block. CBeebies is still a bit too thick for my liking with all the outlines but I think that’s the only other weak one.

I do admire that concept two tried to rebrand iPlayer but BBC Video seems a bit...underwhelming. How about something like BBC+ ?

I assume you'll fix this one as well if you choose it - but about Scotland, and the symbol being in the "o" - wouldn't it kind of... disappear if it was scaled down?

Yeah, I’ll get rid of that BBC Scotland flaw as well. (If I pick that) It was a little bit of a sneaky gimmick, nonetheless.

Thanks for your verdict! All options are certainly on the table in terms of any flaws that need fixing, though.

BTW, BBC+, hm? I was actually contemplating doing that, albeit as a combination of BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds. I might look into that as a future project.

I'm quick to mock up ideas Very Happy

Three choices - featuring a pink to orange gradient, signaling the idea of iPlayer and Sounds merging.

Plus sign - Gill Sans rebrand style - or custom wordmark job.
