hey,

this mocking looks great - i am a bit of an amateur at this but i have read the mocking tips and i think i understnd all the business about safe areas and such.

ok what i am trying to achieve here.

i wanted to do the bbc 'astons' in a modern way, every layout has been done i notice but i thought it would all look quite cool as centered. also I think it's really silly how astons always leave a little tiny gap at the bottom of the screen, what's the point - it's just wasted space! so i filled it all the way down. i also think the date should be on the screen because i never know what the date is when i watch the news.

please could you imagine that the black background of the aston is a bit transparent showing through the studio, unfortunately i don't know yet how to do transparent in paint.

please give me your kind comments but remmeber this is my first try!

It's more of a promo than an aston.
But the BBC would not use the short dates, it's far easier to put the day because it's easier to remember.

At least it is in the safe areas though. Smile

I wouldn't of called it dreadful, but please don't bother again.

The "little tiny gap" is part of what's called the overscan area. You don't put things right on the bottom of the picture because the TV will chop them off. The overscan area is the portion of the picture that sits behind the frame of the TV set, deliberately by design. You notice the bottom gaps more when you're watching in letterbox mode than you do on a widescreen or conventional TV.

Paint does not do transparency. Paint is very limited in what it can do.
I'd love to know what the circles are supposed to be indicating.

First try or 100th try, don't expect "kind" comments if you have to ask for them.
This is more of a promotion template than a look for a news channel. Can you really see something so big on the screen?

No it's not silly, it's common sense if you want the viewers at home to see the graphics, TV's are built differently. (Have you even seen the Safe Area thread?)

I do like the use of an exclamation mark to highlight the importance of the story.

I think all news channels should implement this device as soon as is humanly possible.

I'd rather have the Beeb's current wasted space than your wasted space. It doesn't even approach good. The colour choice is especially bad - black makes the news look depressing.
