I don't understand why you're being so hostile towards us kids. I would have thought you'd like seeing more people getting involved in your hobby.

Because you're treated the same here as people who have been trying to do it for years. If any of the people with the top rated mocks produced this level of work you would see the exact same comments - in fact, they'd probably be harsher, because people know they can produce exceptional work.

It doesn't take long to throw ideas together and see what works before posting them for everyone to see. Taking Alex's same design cues (although I did get rid of the hideous font) I came up with this in about 10 minutes, and there's nothing I'm doing here that even a beginner couldn't do with a bit more time. It's just alignment, positioning and choosing appropriate fonts.

But most of all - this isn't school - none of us here are paid to tell you you've done brilliantly when you haven't.

This is pretty good.

Can I respectfully remind you that your contributions to the Gallery are for the most part no more exceptional than those Alex gave in this thread. Your Slash TV creations to date have varied from "what the deuce?" to "acceptable" and went through more brand redesigns (with various flaws) than I've had hot dinners.

Age is not a barrier just like the software you use isn't a barrier either. People can and have knocked up impressive mocks in PowerPoint just as people have managed to do it in software that costs an arm and a leg. There's a bloke on Facebook who paints images purely through Microsoft Paint and they look brilliant. Me, I find Paint frustrating and limiting. Not he.

Sorry but you have to be judged on a common playing field. . If you're going to get upset when somebody says your creations are crap then I fear you shouldn't be posting them at all. If you want 100% glorious feedback along the lines of "this is the best thing since sliced bread", show your work to your parents. Not a web forum, because you'll only get 100% glorious feedback if it deserves it. If you don't like that then I'm sorry but that's the way the system works.

Questions:

1) Why would a TV channel be named after a persons' forum handle? Why not come up with, you know, a channel name?

2) Why have you just ripped off Carlton with a bog-standard font from the Windows library and called it an "original concept"? Why are bog-standard menus and completely generic end-boards an "original concept"?

This isn't a mock. It isn't a concept. It's not even a project. It's a visual representation of a fart - unwelcome, distasteful and a pure waste of energy.
harshy, London Lite and Cavan gave kudos

This is pretty good.

I don't want to be sarky, but take onboard what dosxuk is saying, because that 'that's pretty good' after he explained and did a mock up of what you should be doing, doesn't cut it.

I'm lost.

You haven't provided any context explaining the purpose of this TV channel(?), the design brief, its target audience or its output so I don't know how I'm meant to judge its effectiveness. However, judging by the first set of images, it really does smack of "Check out my SketchUp skillz".

The font is atrocious, the programme information isn't even aligned with the wordmark, and I don't think any company would get away with blatantly ripping off the Carlton logo like you have.

A truly pointless mock (if it can even be called that).

Why quote the entire post if you're going to gloss over the actual critique and focus on semantics?

Look I'm sorry to have to say this but I think we're pretty much flogging a dead horse here. You've given the impression so far you are seeking a certain type of feedback, whatever that may be, and when you don't get it you try to distract instead via semantics. If you like what you're posted, fine, but we're not all going to share your viewpoint.

I've asked you once already to expand on this idea so we at least have a clue of what you're trying to do (so you can get better feedback) and all you said was "I want to show off my original concept" - hardly helpful. So the best feedback I can give you is explain your concept! Why did you pick that font? Why did you pick the 1999 Carlton logo? What exactly are you trying to do here?

I picked the Carlton logo because I like the star shape and I like its dynamic pattern. I picked the eras bold font and my kabel-style font because it displays my personality (in my opinion) I like it. I may stop doing this mock and move on to something else.

You keep saying words like concept and dynamic without actually knowing what they mean.
