I cant do the snazzy 3d stuff, but something simple would be fine. No need to get carried away with crazy sets, just bring a little bit of colour in, with the logo and graphics. The wood works, but i would pull it back a bit, perhaps not the desk, just floor and where you currently have it on the walls.

Even something simple^like that^ is nice, though with a different font.

Hey I spent ages (10 seconds) choosing that font.

Anybody think that this is an improvement on the titles?

Obviously the images would change depending on that days news.

A step backwards, IMO, also your 'NEWS' colour clashes with the pictures.

Ok, scrap that then. I'll get working on something a bit different..

1) It's very unbalanced to the left.
2) You can't read the "NEWS" text.

I'm sorry if you're a bit narked off with all of the mocks today.
But I've finally found something that I think is a good enough way to add colour to my design and that's of good enough standards to upload to the forum, the only thing that I'm not sure about is the actual logo but hey ho. Here it goes.. 5News 4.0

Feels familiar and you still can't read "News". Keep the text separate from the logo so you don't lose legibility.

Even a slight addition of some colour to that fairly grim looking grey wouldn't be amiss either.

After taking quite a while away from this design, I thought I return to it. Making only some changes to the studio, I thought I'd share it with you, and improve it, based on your feedback.

Evening updates and 'coming up' area:


Moving the 7 o'clock program to 6:30 was a bizarre move and I feel that it could've done the show no good. The change in schedule hase put the program up against both ITV News and BBC Regional News.
I think that a '5News at 7' with a completely different format than the 5 o'clock program would work. I think of my idea as a sort of 'That Sunday Night Show' come 'The Agenda with Tom Bradby'. Emma would be joined by three guests that give their view on the days news. In extreme weather conditions such as summer heat waves or national winter lockdowns, Sian Welby could be one of the guest and give details throughout the show as well as in the forecast at the end. Discussions on the story would take place where a report would usually take place. If a shorter report is needed, that could always be slotted in just before the discussion.

In the impossible event that Channel 5 would take on regional news programmes, this is what I think that the studios could look like to match my design for 5News. This was designed only due to curiosity.
