Does anybody know if there is a source for viewing figures that pre-date BARB, which only seems to go back as far as the early 2000s? I'm writing a paper for uni that's focusing on the rivalry between BBC and ITV in the 60s and 70s, and I was hoping to find some numbers that could back up my information. Any help will be much appreciated.

Trying using the internet archive on site site since there did have such details going back to the 1960s
Every online source seems to have different figures. Also a lot of books seem to vary. I'm sure the body before Barb lost/destroyed the info, which might be why.
However Broadcast used to publish them every week. I have a few of those and they're obviously the definitive ratings as they were printed at the time. Hopefully Broadcast has an archive of all their publications, although I don't know if any library stocks such items.
The TVS/TV Times book 40 Years of British Television at the back has figures from 1955 to 1992. That should be in a library, again however it varies to other sources but does list a month by month figure for the top 20 programmes.
