But do they not have a 'bit' at the beginning which helps to differentiate it between from a bed - a bed is a just a piece of music all the same way through, whilst a vamp has a bit at the beginning to signify its start.

That's what I was led to believe anyway ...

I'd never thought of it like that, but it would make much more sence. However, using that logic, would you call the News 24 headlines a vamp, and Sky News's a bed? Or does the sort of woosh as it starts count?
