"Producer for..."?

Not a "request" exactly but I didn't think this was worth putting in the main forum. I've been the credit "Producer for..." on a number of end credits, and I've never been sure what they mean. I know there are producers and executive producers, but then there might be something like "Producer for LWT" or "Producer for Tiger Aspect" alongside "Producer for BBC".

Can somebody tell me exactly what these "producers for..." do differently than general producers and executive producers?

Isn't the job to have a production input from the broadcaster, so that problems can be resolved during production?

That's what I'd always assumed.

Either the broadcaster or the commissioning company has their own producer involved with the project to make sure things progress as they desire. They are known as "Producer for [commissioning company/broadcaster] "
