I've been trying to find a clip of BBC One continuity from the 'smokey globe' era. It was either on TV-Ark or YouTube but I can't find it on either website. It was a short clip of BBC One going to a newsflash, and just before, a message appeared on screen over the programme saying there would be a news report in x minutes. It was fascinating seeing as I'd been no other clip that had a message pop up over a programme before the newsflash took place. Does anybody recognise it and/or know where it is? Smile

I see they wrote BBC One as BBC-1 in the text in those days.

I expect there was just less (or less awareness of) branding guidelines in those days. If this was to happen now, the graphics wouldn't break the news before the newsreader did and it would be unlikely for it to be introduced by Andi Peters. I expect there wouldn't be a five minute warning either, it may as well read 'Turn to Sky News now'. I wonder if the warning was only because it was during children's programming.

Well of course there have been modern examples of this - some channels have shown captions with "Major Breaking News Story on BBC One / Sky News now" IIRC.

Didn't Sky1 do that for Gordon Brown's resignation?

I remember seeing a Sky News banner pop up on Challenge when Gaddafi was captured.
