If there is one theme tune I have always been after and yet have never been able to get my hands on it is the brilliant orchestral mix of the Tyne Tees news music that was done for the relaunch into North East Tonight in 1997.

If anyone happens to have this I'd really really love a copy of it. I'd hate to think this is one of the utterly impossible to get themes like Blockbusters Sad

An example of the closing theme is here.

If anyone's got the 2000-2004 music, I would love you forever (not in that way of course).

Thanks.

you're wonderful Very Happy

Blockbusters meanwhile, the original library theme "Quiz Wizard" is dead easy to get hold of, the issue is the exact remix that Central did for the show (more zappy noises) seems to have disappeared.

has it? I thought it had been lost into the ether (i.e. rotted at ATV Centre). Is the closing music available too?

Were you here for the infamous Blockbusters-zip-file-gate saga?

There are several low-quality mono TV-rip versions of the opening titles available on various sources.

Blockbusters Opening Clean (mono)
Blockbusters Close (short)

There's at least one stereo version floating around - unfortunately not clean (it has the announcer plus applause at the end) - there is also a file on MHP with a clean sting / back-from-break in Mono, taken from the first ever show where the audience didn't realise they had to clap at the start of a round.

Incidentally, I recently purchased the original 7" vinyl release of Ed Welch's Quiz Wizard off eBay which contains the full Quiz Wizard library tune, including a middle 8, key changes, the whole shebang. Quite a nice listen once I fix my turntable belt.

That one is stereo. By examining the visual representation of each channel in Audacity, you can see that the left and right channels are noticeably different. Also, it wasn't ripped from the TV.

I stand corrected. It is however a noticably flatter sound than the one on the Nicam Stereo TV rip.

Quiz wizard was never original library piece, it was created for the show in 1983, in 1987 Welch created another version, what is now classed as "library" piece, for Grasmere Music Ltd. who he know.
This piece was somehow sold onto EMI, it’s just like STV music library, All there pieces are special created for each show, then put in to the library to get more miles out of them.

Blockbusters-zip-file-gate saga?

Ah yes its coming up to 3 years since that happened, Im also sure that when “the do not request BB in request thread” come into practices.

That really did get to me, and still does, “you know who” really did stuck to his lowest levels that day, although I did still speak to him like a gentlemen, I got to the point where no longer wind me up unlike many folk on here. (There plenty of swear words I can use right now to describe him.) I bet he’s still reading this right now: (evening)

I have spent years looking for the master TV package, and have asked many many many people, companies, old member of staff from central etc for information, Its lead me to nothing. Even people on this forum and there seems to lead to know where.

I dare say it’s around but I would have to speak to die hard collectors who just don’t come onto forums, also because I can’t be trusted, but over 6 years I have been here and I’ve have to do alot of growing up, just a shame some other people still have not. I be honest I can’t blame some of the people for not trusting me; there have been hock up by others.

While we are here did anyone every keep a copy of this file: dated 2006: I did have a copy but my pc went had a hissy fit and i lost it. It was the files 30 sec file MR you know who postage and pretty clean

• http://www.tvforum.co.uk/forums/topic19789 its the 8th post down you will see it
• http://www.tvforum.co.uk/requests/blockbusters-19789/

I doubt anyone still has it:
As some people have said to me It’s may just one of these days just fly into my lap one day.... ( I dare say pig will fly by with it)
