Well I can tell you straight away that 'The Colourful Look' was a remix of a KPM track called "Newslive" by Richard Myhill. The original version is available in the KPM library, and therefore not allowed to be distributed here.
The 2006 Sting, affectionately known by the Midlands Today production team as "The Powerpoint Presentation" is a short clip of the end of the main opening theme. Haven't got it to hand, but I'm sure that the theme is in this forum somewhere...

Ah, OK. I haven't any clips I'm afraid, but I'm sure you'll find simething on TV Ark when it returns in the New Year... I seem to remember seeing the 'colourful look' on there.
I'm not at the BBC myself, although I am 'in the media' and have friends and colleagues at the Beeb in the Midlands (and elsewhere).
Incidentally, I went round Pebble Mill just before they pulled it down, and the old backdrop for the late night bulletins during the 'colourful' look was still installed in the Midlands Today studio! Bolted to the wall and covered up, but I recognised it straight away. Sadly it's in landfill now

I'd often wondered which library that came from. It's fantastically over-dramatic for a regional news programme.
Out of interest, I'd love to know the title and library for the 1980s theme that accompanied the titles with the diamond-shaped logo. (Something at the back of my mind tells me it's a Bruton track?)
Also, the music to the 1970s red, green and black titles was wonderful as well. IIRC, the BBC Local Radio national news circuit used to play it down the line to stations before the daily sports feed in the early 90s. Any info on the origin of this as well would be greeted with a big squeal of delight from me.
(And I've got access to library music via work, so just the details will do me fine if anyone can help.)

Yup, the Diamond look was a track called 'Technicolour' by Alan Hawkshaw. It was also used on ATV programme menu trails during 1980/81. Not sure what library it was from though. It used to be available on the MHP Private Parts, but since the server crash it's lost.
The track was re-performed by a listener in 1989. Very synthy. Good track though.
EDIT: You're right, I've just found it in the Bruton Library: BR15_BRCD8 (Album: 'Industry 1'). Also the Red, Green & Black titles were, I believe, a track called 'Sports Fever 1' by Richard Hill. I'm trying to find that at the moment... I'll let you know...

God, you're good! Just downloaded it from the BMGZomba site. Very happy I am too. Thanks!
Didn't stop it getting a feature on Points Of View once when a viewer complained that it was awful!
Please do. Can't find anything on either BMGZomba or Play KPM under that name as yet.
