I know it's not the time or place to ask, but how the hell did such a depressing .. and, to be honest, crap song ever get released, let alone to Christmas number 1?!!

It was part of a film score originally (Donnie Darko)

Talking of remixes... does anyone have the BBC News mix that was posted here a while back. It was a mix of the 1999 music and the 1989 Nine O'Clock News music. I'm sure some of the newer members would like to hear that.
