Anyone know if Macrovision is still commonplace? I'm looking at pulling off some recordings from my V+ box (HD and non) and wondered if http://www.amazon.co.uk/AVerMedia-EzRecorder-Plus-Record-Set-top/dp/B00933FDGG/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top is likely to work with it?

I think it probably is, I tried getting stuff from my box (not virgin) via HDMI and because it didn't have HDCP protection I only get green or in the case of my Apple TV a HDCP warning. I don't know if that can pass though the HDMI content to work or not?

Hmmm, that's a shame. Although I've never had any problems doing Scart -> DVD recorder over the years. Is that the same thing or would HDMI be extra protected?

It sounds like I'd also need one of these as a converter http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDanywhere-Component-Converter-Adapter-Downscaler/dp/B005DRT4JS/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
