As I say, I totally respect your position on this, but I think people asking could be given a response that explains the reasons why these details aren't available in a slightly more sympathetic way.

Duly noted.

Quite a few studio companies make their floorplans public, so that producers can size up which studio space might be right for them. Pinewood, for instance, used to have a lot of detail online, I think.

London Studios make plans of the individual studios available, but not it seems the entire building, although I guess as most of the studios at some point have included audience based shows it's not a complete secret as to what studio is where within the building.

Anyway, with Fountain due to close at the end of the year does that make the London Studios the only multi-TV studio facility in the capital until TV Centre (significantly reduced in scope) is back in operation?

Of course technically only the first few floors are The London Studios, the tower is ITV!

There's 3 Mills Studios and Wimbledon reopened not too long ago (though there's only two studios there).

I believe Tipping Point is being filmed at Twickenham which traditionally hosts drama so I guess they must be branching out into studio shows now as well.

Elstree is just about within the Oyster area!

Though Three Mills and Wimbledon aren't really in the same league as Teddington, Fountain, TV Centre and TLS, and probably aren't great compared to BBC Elstree, Elstree Film (as run by BBC Studio Production Resources) - which are both converted film studios (but good conversions in the case of BBC Elstree) and Riverside. (Of course some of these studios have gone - and Riverside will be very different when it returns)

Usual things to look for in a quality conversion are the floors (is it a properly flat TV studio floor or a film sound stage floor) and the lighting grid (flexible and saturated?)

Yep - no issue with providing studio floor plans, it's internal maps showing where the studios are in a building - and also where the galleries and support spaces are. There's no real need for this information to be publicised, though I'm sure diagrammatic imagery is fine. What you want to avoid is providing information that makes life easier for those who want to cause mischief or far, far worse things. Of course studio audiences will be able to gather some information - but that's not an argument to make things easy for people.

The galleries are included on the floor plans. I get the feeling as often here this is more an opportunity to get on a soapbox than genuine security concerns.

Perhaps this security thing is just a London thing?
