Help with Uploading Photos

I'm hoping to solve a problem that I've had in my mind for months... (August 2020)

So... the one thing that has been on my mind since joining TV Forum is how to send photos with your post to the Gallery.

After thinking it through, one day, after I joined, I decided to post a new design to The Gallery, which was to be a showcase of some custom BBC News studios. I pressed the insert image icon, and, as I saw the terms [img][/img], it made me think, "Does that mean that I have to insert photos with HTML??". So, after trying to figure out what to do, I copied and pasted the names of the photos I wanted to send.

When I previewed the post, to my shock, I couldn't see the photos, but only, the text I've inserted into the [img] terms. Now, I'm more used to tapping an insert photo icon, and a Files folder coming up on my screen, and selecting an image(s) from there, which is why I was left confused.
I messaged the TV Forum Team, but got no response, so I decided to ask Bail instead, but I haven't had a response from him, so far.

I would really like some help on how to upload photos, so that I can show what my work is like to the Forum, for the very first time, please. Any help given will be gladly appreciated by me.

Thanks very much for the guidance!

To my utter irritation, though, I've added the link of the photo I want to send in between the [img]... thingys (I don't know what they are actually called, so I am calling them thingys), but the preview is just showing
"".

(By the way, the image I am trying to send is the link in between the thingys, but I am realising that it doesn't seem right...)

Those kind of links don’t work, you need to upload your photo to an image sharing service (like Metropol Upload Service or Imgur), then put the link of the photo that you have on the service (like this: https://up.metropol247.co.uk/GhostFromTVF/08E8634E-F1F9-4479-9B7F-21B983E42906.png) between the [img] bits, and your photo should appear!

The term you're after is "URL", or "link" for simplicity.
If you want to put it on a web forum it should not be starting with "file://" (or "C:Users" for Windows users).

Easiest solution is hop over to Metropol at http://www.metropol247.co.uk and sign up for an account there (you can use your TV forum name if you want but you don't have to. You can then use their upload service, as I documented here:
https://tvforum.uk/forums/post1233938#post-1233938

Failing this - http://imgur.com and you'll get a URL like https://imgur.com/r/thesimpsons/DfuP6ln which will give you this:
