a good video creation programme

ok im making a mock at the moment and trying to piece it together using *sigh* windows movie maker, and to be honest it is rubbish when made through it.

does anyone have any suggestions of freewear video programes like windows mm, but a bit more advanced with good video effects (picture-in-pictures, flying videos, ect).
even a programme that is a 30-day trail will do, once its a full version!

I think there is some software from Ulead that offers a 30day trial but I'm not too sure.

However, I got a copy of Pinnacle Studio from eBay for £10. It was just a disc, but it did me fine.

I tried using Ulead and it didn't work out so well, when it was rendering it made the file sizes bigger then other Video Editing software at the same bitrate.
