Hi all,
Does anyone know the company/website that designed the purple GMG 2001 endcaps and also some ident concepts. Images of some examples at http://tvfeatures.thetvroomplus.com/feature-29.html
All I know is they were designed by Rob Curtis, but google search is getting me nowhere!
I know have recently lost all my bookmarks after having to reinstall Mozilla and I can't remember the website.
Cheers guys.

I THINK that the company was called Ballistix.

Cheers for that Rob!

I have now discovered that the website I am after is oktane.co.uk

Such great designs that never made it to air, what a shame. To think what ITV ended up with during the infamous hearts era!

Fascinating.

Never even heard of the guy, but have seen his work all over the place. It's always great to find out who designed certain graphics etc.

Thanks for sharing.

So the purple endcaps had unused accompanying idents (Tyne Tees's is on that site). If they made those, they really had no excuse for not updating Tyne Tees's ident - especially when they did the ITV1 edit. Wouldn't have been any trouble to update the channel logo at the same time, surely? Would've been cheaper than making something new. They wasted money on stuff that didn't air (and other stuff that only lasted a few months, such as new graphics for Calendar) and yet didn't ensure Tyne Tees's brand was consistent. Lunacy.

Well, I doubt GMG North edited the network hearts idents when the network name was changed to ITV1. All regions were probably redone by the same folk in the big smoke. Of course, GMG North could easily have insisted they account for the change.

I think Ballistix and the presentation at GMG North were initially full of ideas in terms of branding the northern stations but were always undermined by network uniformity. A lot of the stuff on that site will have been concepts for a rebrand that would've taken place in late 1999 or early 2000 if the hearts idents had not arrived. Indeed, the Yorkshire local idents and the Christmas & Millennium idents on the northern stations for 1999/2000 were the few parts that actually made it onto the screen.

Then there was the Tyne Tees refresh in 2000 which was pretty good but I think by the rebrand to ITV1, the presentation department had pretty much given up and knew they were on borrowed time.
