Gill Sans IS the font the BBC use for News.
I was wondering if somone could send me a font simlar to what BBC news use. I would expect the actaual font is library so something simlar would be great.
I allready have Gill Sans but im after something abit closer.

What makes matters worse, is that there are a few foundries who sell the font, and those versions differ from each other because the typographers used different references to base their font drawings on, or they made modifications based on their aesthetic sensibilities!

Indeed. One of the most bizzare I ever came across was a variant of Gill Sans that used the points and dots from Johnston and used the Johnston numbers, but the rest was Gill Sans, albeit with different serifs.

Gill Sans with Windows comes as Gill Sans MonoType.
Gill Sans on a Mac is Gill Sans Adobe I believe.

More specifically, BBC uses Adobe Gill Sans for logos, etc.
