Hi there

Does anyone know what font is used for the Central promos and stings from 1989-1995?

Some of it is Gill Sans (the "Inspector Morse" looks very Gills Sans), the other similar looking font looks similar to the Futura font.

I've seen the "Frankie's House" font before, it looks like Times New Roman without the serifs (serif is the little sticky out curly bits on the letters) - thought it was Garamond but that's too "serif" (for want of a better verb!)

The 'Inspector Morse' is definitely not Gill Sans, most notably the 'M' doesn't have straight legs like the Gill Sans 'M', that one looks more like Futura to me.

Yeah, I've just copied it back into Wordpad and there are other differences as well, not just the M - the R is different as well from Gill Sans. Futura and variants is probably the best bet for it.

But that "Des O'Connor Tonight" font doesn't look quite like Futura. Similar but not the same. The apostrophe is different.

It definitely looks Futura Condensed Bold to me, including the apostrophe. There are a few different versions of Futura out there though from different foundries, so there could be variations in this respect. The Ruth Rendall text is in the same font, and Inspector Morse also appears to be Futura (Book?).

The top one, Frankie's House, is Clearface Gothic Bold – most famously known (in these parts anyway) as the TVS logo font.

Inspector Morse wording in that slide is Futura.
What font is it for Saturday and Next from 1990 and 1992?
