I was amazed when that video first appeared on YouTube - I vividly remember seeing it on the first morning of C4's coverage, when they filled out the hours after the opening ceremony with a phone-in and a repeat of a Daley Thompson documentary.

Certainly through the night there was, as quite a few regions didn't go 24 hours until late 1988. They tended to go with the C4 sustaining feed rather than employ someone to 'press play' or monitor the automation.
Was there still a lot of unsold slots even as late as 1988 then?
