Something which came up in the ITV Programming thread the other day, I thought appropriate to post here...

Does anyone know the track used for the infamous Channel 3 North East (and later Tyne Tees) idents? Samples of it have also been used in many other places such as a current It'll Be Alright On The Night sting and the 1996 Sky News Live At Five intro.

This YouTube video identifies a few other examples...

Surely for such a commonly used piece of music, someone must know the source, but I've yet to be able to find its identity.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Yes, but Spencer wants to know any or all of the library it comes from, the title, and the composer. Wink

From the "new topic" page for this forum: "Note that you are not permitted to request or provide library music". Nowhere does it say you cannot ask what the title of that piece of music is or what library it is from.

Pointless theme tune is a library piece too - it turned up on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson of all places.

I am sure I didn't imagine this in a dream, but I'm sure Sky News also used another piece of music which Tyne Tees had as their news theme in 1992, long before the C3NE era . . .

I think it might have been for Murnaghan, or something similar.
