I cannot believe somebody thought it would be a good idea to have a red clock like that. It is almost unreadable on certain backgrounds. It's worse than the original clock which while yellow didn't have the drop-shadow added to it until later.

Clock colour changed daily along with news backgrounds, menu graphics etc each day of the week. Didn't last long.
Yellow, green, red, purple and (I think) orange
Edit: Yep it was orange

I don't
think
it was library music, Jason. The 1993 music was composed by Michael Walton and Al Stone and I think the music was commissioned for the programme. I suspect the same can be said of later mixes. There were one or two DATs of Big Breakfast News music kicking about at ITN - some of which had been recorded over! Sadly the 1996 music wasn't to be found, so it may have been wiped!

Hey I'm new to this but I know damn well that 1996 big breakfast news music mix was done by the composer David Arnold...not the James Bond composer....the other one that does TV themes...a while ago there was an excerpt from that on his site! I absolutely loved it and want a clean version but he hasn't replied to my emails!!!! I also want clean copy of the one from sept 2000....even though the 1996 theme has the four note bit on it...the music is completely different and not based around the four note if you get my drift? I was also one of the superfans on the last ever show

Why would somebody do that! I really want that music also and have messaged David Arnold...He says it wasn't him but I am sure a few years back, a clip of that news theme appeared on his site! Its really cool music too...Just wished Peter Smith wasn't reading the news over it lol!
