It all depends what you want to rip. Do you want the raw files? Do you want to save them as AVI/Mpeg/Divx ? maybe re-edit them? Do you want the audio ripped seperately as MP3 or Wav? or maybe you'd like to decode AC3 files or remix the 5.1 track, even the DTS surround then save as your own version? There is software for all these purposes, try googling for the task you want to do and follow the links to free software and DVD rip tools, most will have the help or manual inside the software with instructions on how to do it.
