I was visiting Lowe's site and was able to listen to the new countdown, but ,of course, I wasn't able to save the file. Can someone save it and post it or e-mail it to me please?. I remember some forumers were able to do so with the world countdown and the main titles, so hopefully someone can help me with this request. Many thanks in advance.
Just play the file in Media Player 9 or 10, and select "Save As" from the file menu after it has played.
That usually works.
Any suggestions for people with the useless port of WMP for Mac OS?
You could stop your incessant shallow Mac-hugging and get to grips with a MAN'S machine. *cough*
Couldn't agree more... Macs promise lots and deliver little. They really, really appeal to the "fashion-conscious" niche, as exemplified by some of their ridiculous spawn-off products (e.g. iPod MINI). "User Friendly", "Cool", "Trendy" -- I prefer functionality and compatibility rather than a bunch of glossy gelly screens with only one bloody mouse button (just -- surprise, surprise -- so it looks nice, I assume). Adam's statement is in itself pro-PC. If I were picking hairs, I'd talk about the "useless port of ITunes for Windows XP"... but, surprise surprise, Windows Media Player is perfectly compatible for all my needs, thank you very much... I don't even need to touch any viscious pieces of mac software (few though there are) apart from Quicktime for a few idiotic .mov files encoded in their ridiculous format. [And please don't start talking about aac -- once you get off mp3 there are loads of competitors and aac is pretty low down the list]. And the Dock thingy... now, maccies, if you MUST copy the Windows Start Bar, could you at least do a good job at it? I think this article does a good job at summing up just a few of the disadvantages.
Barney Boo I think has hit the nail on the head: people, in some obscure drive to avenge Bill Gates, go for "the:mac" (it's painful just writing it in their stupid format). "Omigod, you should get a mac, it's so smooth, look at these amazing screensavers it comes built in with"!
I'll finish this post with a bit of Mac Hangman -- first person to successfully complete it gets a Mac Mini or whatever stupid idea they've coughed up now.

(EDIT): almost forgot to mention those horrid "Switch" ads on TV. Practically on a par with Crazy Frog... and really aptly show their target audience.
Perhaps you're just reading into things a bit too much. I didn't think that Macs were that good... until I tried one. The performance is much better than Windows. And Linux is slightly too complicated for my liking...

I'm not even that keen on Linux. I just use a computer to browse the internet, check my emails, talk to people, write word documents and play the sorts of ridiculous dated software for which I have a penchant. I don't load my computer up with junk so it slows to a crawl (and so I can moan about how terrible Windows is)... and I regularly defrag and format my HD which keeps it all running like a new pin. I feel that most of the criticism over Windows' stability is unjustified. If you take a windows operating system and don't install a thing on it, it'll go fine. It's precicely because WIndows is so successful and widespread that so much software exists that in turn slows down computer systems... and OEM manufacturers don't help either. There's nothing I hate more than having a copy of MSW "bundled" (oh I hate that word) with your computer.
I just have an inbuilt hatred for the "mac way". Summarised into a short sentence, it tells the users what they want to hear. If only could complete my Mac Anagram, you could summarise it itno 2 words

Problem with me is that I tend to clog Windows up with rubbish... then find that it's not too easy to get it back to the start. Uninstalling never quite puts the system back to what it was beforehand. The Mac doesn't seem to have that "memory effect"... as soon as I don't want something it goes in the Trash and it's done with.

Yes, programs have a habit of leaving irritating traces of things in the registry, and system restore doesn't work as described -- hence, regular formatting is essenial. Analogous to oiling a car every few months
I have to say that even though the Mac OS App is fab... the Windows port of QuickTime is the most awful thing ever brought to Windows. I don't know HOW many times I've tried... MSCONFIG, that new fangled Anti-Spyware thingy etc... but STILL that fecking QuickTime icon WILL appear in the task pane.
