Unfortunately ITV has been on a YouTube deleting video rampage, mine got suspended as well. You'll just have to set up a new one and not upload anything from ITV (although they seem to have kept the Idents). Unless you believe the content that got delete was not ITV's copyright. (which it is)

Sucks doesn't it?

Is this just for ITV Plc material or can old ATV, HTV, TVS etc all be uploaded?

Do a search upon certain programme titles, and you'll see that all related clips have been suspended. I somehow doubt therefore they've been identifying every clip, but rather firing their big programme names at Youtube instead, which would be why idents and similar remain untouched. Youtube have pretty obviously got a new way of going about things for the holders now, but naturally aren't quite as keen to promote that one on their public blog, media centre etc Laughing A bit of Googling suggests that they also rolled out a new 'content identification' system last month (http://uk.youtube.com/t/video_id_about). It will be interesting to see how sites like this cope in the long term really, and whether the bubble has burst upon it.

I thought they just warned people first, seems harsh.. I knew ITV were getting tough, but really they should only be getting tough on people who upload whole programmes, little clips often are just free plugs for the products. Shame, although maybe its to do with Music in the titles, I'm sure Tony Hatch likes his Emmerdale royalties.

There is something on the Granada Ventures site about their new tough policing of illegal 'trading' of anything they own.

It seems that Youtube are flying round like mad banning people's accounts randomly for no reason. Gavin Scott was suspended recently, as was diamondiceman2002 (who was uploading Krypton Factor videos). YouTube replied to diamondiceman2002 saying that it was their policy not to inform users as to why their account was suspended if it was other than copyright infringement (in that case they do tell you that's why you were banned), and that the most they can say is "terms of use violation".

It's a pity ITV don't take a similar policy to BBC (and possibly also Channel 4), where they allow / turn a blind eye to clips of parts of shows being uploaded but remove whole episodes that are uploaded. I seem to recall someone in the BBC saying (officially) that they felt the short clips helped to promote the programmes (and channel in general), if only ITV took the more relaxed view.

Alot of the problem is that they have to clamp down on the clips, as when they've turned a blind eye to those, users swiftly decide to push and push and push their luck until they are uploading full programmes anyway, so they have to come down on it all. Added to that, the whole 'I've only a few clips' is usually a smokescreen anyway. I've seen a few folks recently who are complaining at their account suspension, yet they still have whole programmes (or did until deletion) sat chunked in their account. Learn from it people!
