...and with that, the site is gone!

Might be something to do with this (I hadn't spotted his e-mail address at the time of writing):

Dear Sir/Madam

We are writing in connection with the website www.freewebs.com/waveformidents operated by a FreeWebs customer whose identity and contact details do not appear on the said site.

The purpose of this site is to offer RealVideo clips of UK and world television idents from the early days of television to the current time. However, all the material available at www.freewebs.com/waveformidents, including images and accompanying text, is directly copied from our website, www.tv-ark.org.uk.

In addition the clips and images are directly linked to our own server, amounting to a considerable theft of our bandwidth. In the absence of an e-mail address we are unable to contact the webmaster of waveformidents to request he removes our material.

Whilst we appreciate there are many TV idents fan sites in circulation, waveformidents is blatantly infringing the copyright of both TV Ark and the broadcasters who own the rights to the material we feature.

I would be grateful if you would look into this matter and advise on any action you may be able to take in order to prevent the use of our material as set out above. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards
SIMON

Sounds familiar, Paul has been active recently so I wouldn't doubt it being him.

I'm pretty sure when Simon posted this on MHP Chat, the name Paul turned up via Wikipedia. It's not loading for me righ now, but I put the address into Google and it came straight back with a Wikipedia page...

Okay, thanks for posting that link, as it leads to his main 'company' website which is a haven of riproaring entertainment. It gives deluded a whole new name. Highlights include:-

* Their increase in profits of 22% due to big sponsors, who've all now mysteriously disappeared.
* The TV Production company they own, but wont name as they dont want to affect their slate.
* The idents site was deleted 'as it was too hard to update', not because it was spotted as being a rip off a day beforehand and reported to Freewebs.
* Their new and 100% original project, The Ultimate LWT Site has been abandoned.
* Extra bonus points to the terms and conditions of the site which state...

Company logos are used with permission as well as other items taken from websites.

At no time may this website be involved with illegal activities.

Also we may have members of southparks working in waveform but we are definately not part of it.

And no part of this site may be taken without permission.

If it's still online later, I'm going to have to have some more digging around in this haven of gems. Very Happy

Which technically it was, since it relied on other people's work!

He should be reported to Wikipedia for vandalising, or at least let them know his history of screwing up stuff.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Laughing

No "currant sponcers", as he would put it, judging by some of the nasty spelling. Anyway, enough about dried fruit; this site has to be the ultimate haven of pointless mess, lies, rip-offs, and all sorts of mutations of the English language. Someone ban this dodgy spinster from the internet.

http://www.freewebs.com/waveform5/ (a parody of the offending site) has given TV Ark a mention as one of the sites that was stolen from, along with Wikipedia and Virgin.
