I've just been asked by the TV Forum masthead on the homepage to confirm my email address. Is this a new feature?

No, been around about a year. Mine's popped up so quite a few are probably seeing it at the moment.

Fairly trivial this, but was just thinking: I quite liked those 'Thumbs Up' Emoticons that used to be available - wonder why / where they went?

Wow, don't think that's been seen for years! I think it could make a return.

Is there any record of the first few threads?

Sadly not, there was an old-school message board for a few days initially just to test the waters. I remember manually copying each post in each topic (quite a few topics in just a few days!) over to the Ikonboard software. Sadly didn't keep a record.

The oldest thread is this page I randomly kept. The first complete thread is from when the BBC went off air in June 2001, then a Look North and Calendar thread from August. Things get a bit more complete in early 2002 but so far I can only find up to April. I assume the software was converted over from static files to a database around this point and then had the big crash in Jan 2003 which lost the lot.

Hm. What a shame "tv mad" didn't stick around.

Just a quick bug I've noticed, if you delete a post, it deletes successfully but then redirects you to an invalid link (tries to take you to just the thread name without tvfourm.co.uk in front).

Cheers Orry, hopefully all these bugs have been corrected in the new version (including the invalid link on the homepage if you delete a post/we split threads etc.)

Whatever happened to this feature:

Quote:
Pres News - a ticker now appears in the main forum highlighting the latest television news, courtesy of the writers at The TV Room Plus

There's still one in the Media Websites section but this has gone from the main forum. Obviously TVR+ closed down but TV Live News offers a similar service.

A random post appeared in the bid thread without me actually creating one. Very odd! Confused

Anybody else having font troubles with the forum? I'm in Chrome running on Mac OSX Lion and everything appears to be in Myriad and hard to read, I'll get a screen shot of what I mean, it hurts my eyes!

Asa, if you'd like to revive this for the new site, please get in touch with what you need and I'll see what I can do. Very Happy

Re the flipper/ticker in Media Websites: Could that be put on the whole site under the "Forums Membership..." bar, with the hot topics and mods and admins choices of the best topics?

The staff hardly have time to update The Gallery Challenge let alone choose their own threads of the day lol.

The favourites doesn't have to be in it, just would add to it.
