So, it appears, on my end, at least, that UTV Today has gone. A Google search presents you with links, as normal, with description to what UTV Today is, but clicking upon a link or visiting brings you a 'The site you requested does not exist on this server' message. Either I'm looking at a bad time, or it has gone. Is that so?

Yep, it seems to have gone. Sad

StevieB still posts on here (last post 22nd May as of time of post) so hopefully he'll provide a reason.

I've checked the Google cache which is only from a few days ago but the last update seems to be 2009.

Yes unfortunately I've had to call it a day with the website. As you've rightly pointed out, the last update was absoultely ages ago. That was due to me getting a full-time permanent teaching post, leaving me very little time to get round to updating it!

Then a few months back, my web host got in contact to say that they were doing random checks on certain websites and that when they inspected mine, they found a large number of files that were 'contravening their policy'. This basically turned out to be all of the video files, so they went ahead and deleted every one of them, leaving every single video a dead link. The final straw was when they sent me the renewal information for the web address (which was already expensive enough) and told me that if I wanted to include video files, then I would have to pay even extra for streaming of these files, rather than direct download. This was the reason why they were removed in the first place.

It's a shame to have to close it after so many successful years but I don't fancy paying the money to keep it online for posterity's sake (since it would probably have been years before it was updated again anyway)!

In the meantime, I still have my UTV Today YouTube account and if there's anything important UTV-wise it'll definitely be uploaded there!

I was actually surprised about the update date - I didn't think it had been that long! Then again time seems to be flying by for me at the moment.

What a shame to see it go - thanks for sharing why it did. You could always host the videos on a streaming service like blip.tv and just embed them onto the site, if you wanted a way to save on the hosting costs.

Sad to see the end of the site, Stevie; I've always appreciated the work you put in over the past six years on UTV Today, but of course, when real life gets in the way and takes priority...

What's going to happen to all the screen grabs from the site? It would be a shame to see them disappear.

Myself and Steve are in talks to bring the screengrabs from UTV Today over to TV Live in the next few weeks.

I was hoping you'd say that, Rob Very Happy

It's sad to see such a great site close, but at least all the hard work put into capturing hasn't gone to waist with it being transferred to TV Live. Thanks Steve for brining us such a wonderful resource of UTV's history over the past few years.

Although they mainly cover the era when I gathered content for my old website which I stopped updating around 2004 - UTV Today picked up the baton from 2005 onwards.
