With regards to the graphics, I can only assume they will be using the same graphics as last year. During the live programme they were using the same astons, short stings etc as last year so they will probably be using them again on Saturday.

Slightly modified.

And about the power failures, it seemed to go relatively well until the very end. Nothing as drastic as a power failure, just Adrian messing up a link into the behind the scenes footage of the outside breadcast unit and then Claire arriving in the studio with no mic! That was about it!

And on the subject of outside broadcast units, brownie points to those who can guess who'll be doing the OBs for the boxing on Saturday...

Are there any plans to show UTV's coverage of the NW200 on Men & Motors again this year?

Just found this on irishroadracing.co.uk:

Eurosport – the leading Pan-European Sports channel reaching over 100 million households, 240 million viewers in 54 different countries – will be broadcasting the 2006 Kennedy Group International North West 200 on 16th June 2006 at 6pm (GMT)

So does that mean UTV/UTV staff will be mentioned in any end credit sequence (for a change?) Wink

Shame it can't really be credited to "An Ulster Television Production for ITV"...

Well, we know UTV dispensed with end credits a long time ago...I guess they would probably say the were ahead of time.

As for "Ulster Television", well the last vestiges of that name will be gone this day next week, when Ulster Television plc shareholders get to vote whether they want to change the name to UTV plc. Even if there is small shareholder resistance (which even in NI, I doubt there will be) proxies should be enough to get the motion through. Ironic, the ITV company that has done the most to preserve its regional identity will be the first to change its legal name (apart from changes from "plc" to "Ltd") since 1993.

Anyone notice today one of the riders during the NW200 said "pis.sed off" during an interview?! At 1pm might I add!

Probably a slip up! Ah well, but then pi**ed off does seem to be creaping more and more in on programming!

They're back to bad habits at UTV today - incorrect aspect ratio currently of programme (Wycliffe? ). Border analogue broadcasting it okay, UTV digital and analogue making the usual mess of it.

EDIT : fixed now, but why is it always UTV this happens to? They always blame ITV for sending incorrect information when you phone.

For those of you who are interested, last night I uploaded caps from the Northern Ireland premiere of the new James Bond film which was shown on UTV last Thursday in a programme entitled "Bond in Belfast: The Charity Premiere". Most of the UTV personalities were there, looking very dapper of course.

Worth a look even if just to laugh at Julian showing off his Gucci scarf!
