Very good clip. I'd read it does exist as it was given on a video reel to David as a souvenir and presumably made it to the bods at Kaleidoscope but never seen it until now!

It’s goodbye from ABC in 1968:

Not many highlights from the last 12 years, then.

Yep, that's how it was recovered, I belive whoever was announcing for ABC Midlands got a tape of their closedown too which was recovered at around the same time as David's I seem to remember reading.

David was good for holding on to his stuff, as we know several otherwised wiped TOTPs he presented were recovered because he recorded and kept them (and BBC4 showed one of them).

He's got links to Kaleidoscope, when they ran Big Centre TV David presented a show for them.

According to the schedule I posted a link to above, the last programme was 20 minutes long

I was convinced it was a recreation at first. The quality of that clip is incredible for its age.

One of the rare things to survive on videotape from the time rather than a telerecording (in the UK at least, the US and Germany certainly have a large surviving amount of 60s VT), that's why it looks so good compared to most surviving material from that era.

The sound of those clicky buttons on air is one of those Sounds You Don’t Hear Anymore, like those big clunky library book stampers...or the whirring of a rotary dial phone.

Look North's Barry Chambers at the helm of the Leeds self-op, Christmas 1983, with a Breakfast Time regional opt out that seems pretty light on news.
