Did anyone on here own one of those TVs with the more advanced teletext (extra colours and backgrounds) - I've only ever seen it myself on recording of Pages from Ceefax. Did Oracle or Teletext Ltd ever make use of it?

I've seen some Oracle tests from the 80s using it, not sure that Teletext ever did though.

It was law to have a beard if you were doing anything technical or sciency in the 70s, wasn't it?

I imagine some people on here will have already seen this, but a copy of the infamous moment when BBC newscaster Peter Woods was taken off air because he was - ahem - tired has been found… in an HTV engineer's secret cupboard!

An audio-only copy has been available online for several years but this is the first time video of it has been discovered.

Why is the transfer staying at ITV Wales? Surely it was just circumstance that it was found there and it would be better at the BBC?

Apparently the tape of the Sex Pistols swearing on Today resides at the BBC despite being a Thames show, so it's not the only one! I seem to remember reading that somewhere too, apparently it was a personal recording of Malcolm McLaren rather than an offical Thames recordings.

That doesn't sound right to me. I used to work with a former Thames VT librarian and remember him saying that it was the one of the most requested clips they had. Thames/Pearson/Fremantle made a lot of money out of it over the years.

The second bit might be correct, but it's highly unlikely that the BBC would have it... it's not theirs so they couldn't actually do anything with it

A rather tacky looking Christmas adaption of a segment of the TV-am titles from 1983, I'm assuming they repositioned everybody for this:

Only slightly more tasteful by TV-am 1983 standards:

And finally for now, what everybody really wanted to see at 9:23am one morning in 1989 - Lizzie Webb in her underwear:
