Friday Update Fest - Part Two:

New content, in the form of Newsround. http://bit.ly/gvFv5T

The Friday Update Fest will continue tomorrow, due to persistent fail-safe system issues.

So, the first update is that the contact, about and disclaimer pages have resurfaced today.

Also, presentation from OK!TV is now online, with video to follow... hopefully. http://bit.ly/dOEQsJ

I'm always mindful not to comment negatively on the work other people put into their sites as I know the time and effort to maintain them is great.

However, with respect, have you visited your own site on-line? It is littered with broken links, missing images and error messages that just make me - as a visitor - just click away from it quickly.

I'm sure it's not your intent to present it is as such, but I would suggest a little more work is needed before you continue to provide updates.

I'm aware of these issues Andrew, and at the moment they are beyond my control, as the host is automatically redirecting the site. I'm quite unaware why, as there's no code to tell it to do this. The domain it redirects to isn't even live, so nothing should show anyway. I'm sure, that if you'd visited on a standard, working time, that you'd have different views.

So yes, the note tonight is that the host is redirecting for no apparent reason, although I thought this was the fail-safe system engaging automatically at first. I'm working with them to resolve the issue, and hope it will be resolved ASAP. For now, you will receive a mix of standard and re-directed pages. Apologies.

Regardless, a menu full of links to non-existant pages isn't exactly inspiring.

I'm inclined to agree with Andrew on this one... you need to make sure the site is functioning properly before you make the site live... too many broken links can put one off visiting. With that said, I had to deal with a lot of problems before TV Live became established, so bear with it. I know you're trying your best.

Thanks to both of you for your comments. The main issue that was causing the 404's was due to the issue I touched upon earlier, that was beyond my control. However, although I haven't verified it with the technical team, the issue appears to have been resolved, which would mean TVPres.UK should return to some normality, if I'm correct in thinking the problem has gone.

EDIT: Technical team have verified that they've fixed the issue, which was on their part, not my own.

I'm afraid I still have to stand by my comment regarding all the 404s on the menu bar.

Hi Andrew,

Looks as if you're correct, there. The 404 links from the BBC and Sky section are where the generic masterpages should be. No excuses, and I'm not going to make one up either, but I'll aim to have the issue rectified by tomorrow evening.

All of the 404 errors from the menu are now gone. Most of them now have a masterpage, although you will get a customized page informing that the page is currently unavailable for a few.

Also, the homepage has received a slight tweak, as has the contact page. Plus, on the content update front:

- An expansion to Channel 5's current presentation
- A look at Sky3's lone ident

This should neaten things up quite a bit. They'll be more masterpages in the coming days, along with content to accompany them.

These are still broken:

http://www.tvpresuk.yolasite.com/bbc-weather.php

http://tvpresuk.yolasite.com/http//www.tvpresuk.yolasite.com/sky-news

http://www.tvpresuk.yolasite.com/childrens

Also you seem to have content linked to on the homepage that isn't available in the actual sections themselves:

I.e. http://tvpresuk.yolasite.com/sky3---current.php is linked to on the homepage but the Sky3 link in the top menu (http://tvpresuk.yolasite.com/sky3.php) doesn't show anything.

Thanks again Paul, I'd forgotten about those sections! Childrens and BBC Weather should now be fixed, although the issue with Sky News is on my part, and will be gradually fixed around the site.

Also, a bulk load of updates coming online by 9pm, with will mainly be updates that were lost when the new version of TVPres.UK went live.
