I've just had an invite email from TVCatchup.com.

They got closed down a while back (or they closed the website themselves - one or the other) but it looks like they're relaunching.

It's only Beta at the moment and it says I'm not eligible because I have Virgin Media cable broadband.

The wording is a bit misleading on their website though as it seems to suggest that the trial is only available to Virgin Media, Telewest, etc although it says that as I'm with Virgin Media I can't use it. Strange.

Quote:
Unfortunately, your isp (Virgin Media) is not currently supported.

During the BETA phase, access is limited to customers of BT, Virgin Media, Telewest and a selection of smaller ISPs.

Please register your details below to be notified when the service launches in your area.

I had the same e-mail, and also can't use it because I'm on AOL (sorry now known as the Carphone Warehouse Broadband Services)

We're with NTL Business and can use it - according to their site we're with Virgin.

anyone got an invitation code so I can try it out?

I'm with Virgin Media and managed to sign up - you don't have to use an invitation code, just leave that bit blank.

Indeed, I didn't notice that the filed was optional. Signed up, looks pretty good!

I don't think you'll be able to connect anyway. I think its doing some kind of ISP sensing.

It's very strange as I've just gone onto the sign up page again today and it now says I'm allowed to sign up.

Good news. Smile

From what I can work out, Its basically about which ISPs are peering with them in London. To get the service, your ISP needs a peering connection at LINX (with TVcatchup's) provider. I should think more ISPs setting up the peer as they become aware of the service.

Yep, it's now allowing AOL users to sign up, when previously I got the block. Smile
