Okay, fixed those two headings. I have the Daz one down as 1995 myself, a date I think I came to based upon the dates mentioned on some of the others on the tape in the same break (at its latest it could be early 1996, if none of the advertisers were using the latest ads).

Oh, and as for the BBC2 page, I did try and put in some of the things you emailed about a long time back as I said I would. Unfortunately though whilst I had a text file saved in the Revision 12 folder reminding me to 'check my email' for more details, by the time I came to updating this page I'd lost a big chunk of email between June 2004 and February 2005 thanks to a harddrive fault. >.<

Can someone please please help me, I don't know whats wrong.

I've been visiting TV Whirl and downloading clips for a while but about a month ago I couldn't get onto the site as it kept coming up "page cannot be displayed". Then a few days ago, to my surprise, it connected and I thought nothing more of it but tried connecting again today and it either comes up "we can't find www.tvwhirl.co.uk" or "page cannot be displayed",
Is it something wrong with my internet or is it TV Whirl?

I'd appreciate any information anyone has as it's really bugging me.

Thank you,
LoveTV

Hmm.. thats awfully strange, because it works perfect for me.
Whats you ISP?

So sorry, i've been on holiday and have been unable to reply.

I'm with Tesco, can you help me out at all?

Thanks

Well as I recall Tesco is unusual in that it uses NTL's systems for their service, rather than BT's, so usually any problems that hit NTL's service hits theirs too. On the other hand, I know of a few folks using NTL to access the site fine*, so I'm really not sure what to suggest there. :S

Not I. Anyway, the service backbone is provided by NTL to Tesco's ISP and from my end there's no real problem though there may be a problem with one of the transparent proxies that you go through and if you're on dial-up or some other service, you might be going through a different section of NTL's system which is affected (specifically NTL Freedom users which is ADSL users like yourself) so I'll go find out and see if anything turns up.

TV Whirl - Revision 12.1

Yes, an unusually long gap for a small update, but those watching the homepage of the site will probably have some idea why. Still, there's an update at last. 7 new files, two from Yorkshire with Calendar titles from the 70s and a 1968 chevron. Slightly more original to the net are the remaining 5 though. They're all coverage from Tyne Tees' Big Move from Newcastle's City Road to Gateshead, back in the Summer of this year.

(Oh, and as a sidenote, there is also a CITV White Knuckle Tour ident from 2001 now available on the CITV page. It's not mentioned anywhere though as it was supposed to be there from Revision 12, only I'd managed to miss actually adding the link to the page.)

Yeah, the site shouldn't be down (unless it was only very brief), but it's possible you've got another ISP which randomly has decided not to 'see' the site as happened with someone above, in which case it can only hope it'll pick it up again in a day or two. Ideally I'd have the site spread across two mirrored servers which would reduce the chances of anyone not being able to get to the site dramatically, but thats just too expensive. As there are a few people starting to hit this problem now though, I may have to look in to moving to another different paid host again soon.

(A tip which is worth pointing out for folks who cant see the site mind. Often throwing it through an online translator like babelfish, and just selecting two random languages which will have minimal effect on content like Spanish to German can allow it to be seen, though possibly imageless. Often when ISPs cant see it, online translation service servers still can Wink)

Revision 12.2

Gah, cant believe I forgot to update this thread 2 days ago, as now my Christmas message is kinda outdated. Oh well... er... Happy New Year.

8 New files in this update, perhaps not totally unsurprisingly covering Christmas 2005 from BBC 1 and 2 (and a whole trailer for 3!). ITV1 and hopefully some of the other channels will follow before the new year. This isn't that I have any particular BBC-bias, its just that I forgot to bring all of my capture equipment with me over the holidays, so *cant* actually capture anything more until I get back on Thursday. Embarassed There's also the obligatory slightly festive look to the site, looking quite cold and chilly once more, and the Worst Ad Award winner for October has been announced, even if I have left it very late in the month for those two things.

Revision 12.3 - Welcome to the New Look ITV

I've spent far too much of the day working on it (alas I couldnt start following this until the afternoon due to a morning exam), but at long last an update to the site is now online to cover ITV's new network look. 17 Clips in total, mixed from ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and the ITV News all appear on a dedicated ITV Relaunch 2006 Page, just to save having to dig round the various pages for each channel.

I think, you've broken the record, the first TV Pres website to upload these and update the new look on pages. Razz

Thanks
