I quite like Pete's proposition.

Thank you.

I'm sure your proposition is one in a long line of propositions your proposition has proposed.

Sorry?

EDIT: I should add I have no say in the running of the site and am in no way involved in what happens to it or its content following Mike's announcement...

I just couldn't pass up the tongue twister opportunity Smile

DIMBLEQUERY: PLEASE SPECIFY THE CURRENT ETA FOR SITE CLOSURE

*Nevermind. Dimblebot is functioning as normal*

The site is still costing Mike, as it's up now - but cost is why the site is shutting down?

Martin doesn't own the site. It's Mike that owns it...

So it is. Apologies for putting Martin by mistake.

Mike has been letting the hosts know that the site will be closing, and he is unsure what to do with the content right now. There has been a lot of things happening, which means Mike just cannot keep working on the site and supporting it from his own back pocket any more.

That's about all I know. Part of the reason for the new look was a proposed deal that fell through, and hoping to attract a sponsor who cared enough to keep paying something towards the site.

Why do I have the distinct impression that this isn't about a TV pres site's continued existence but the continued financial benefit of this Mike chap? Why else would the videos magically disappear from the site despite him getting some sponsorship last time? We've also seen and heard how the claims of massive expense (£70-80/year for hosting it) just don't add up, and how actual serious offers to (1) take it off his hands, (2) host it for free and (3) GIVE HIM MONEY to do so are completely ignored.

Even if he is only in it for the money, he could at least have the common courtesy to acknowledge the offer in this thread.

Hmm, I have to agree with you, in some respects, Sput. I know people who have unlimited hosting for £10 a month. Otherwise, he's on an awful deal.

Well it's certainly a shame to see the site die and all that content go to waste, especially as it is one of the the final sites of its kind.

Metropol, therefore, would like to offer to purchase the site and its content which shall continue to be run and updated by the Metropol team. I presume a great deal of the content is stored on DVD and similar therefore this offer includes the postage of DVDs over to Metro HQ to allow for any new content to be uploaded / updated / converted to flash video.

Please name your price.

Many Thanks
The Metropol Team.
Have you heard anything from them about this? I think if there's a way to save the site, which you're offering, they'd be fools not to take advantage of it.

This is simply untrue, why cant he just admit he worked on a site for 10 years, its along time and so he has become tired of updating. You can't run a presentation site as a business, its copyright material, which he wants to make money from?

I think its more about wanting to run the site without it costing him any more. As I said Mike has had a number of changes happening lately, and we were let down by others who had approached us with grand plans which have all fallen through, despite over a year of work on mine and Mike's part.

So it is no doubt a combination of things, and fatigue is obviously involved.
