The TV Room

Have they stopped accepting listings for the archive ? (March 2011)

This site closed in March 2021 and is now a read-only archive

Shame, similar feeling to when TV & Radio Bits closed down.

Although it's a site I never visit as much as I used to, I'm really sorry to see such a well resourceful website go under, although it isn't too surprising I guess. Thanks to Mike for keeping it online for so long, as it's one of only a handful of sites from the early days that is still online.

Speaking as someone who has uploaded 450 odd videos onto YouTube I understand how much time and effort goes into putting it all together.

It's very sad to see The TV Room closing.

It was one of the first TV pres sites I ever visited (the first being TV Ark).

It really is/was a superb site.

I hope the content is going to show up elsewhere on the web and won't be lost forever.

Alas Youtube is starting to overshadow some of these wonderful press site.

Thanks to Youtube I have now managed to view and enjoy FAR more press etc from my area and next door, ( STV and Grampian, ) its also not help these sites have also had some minor mistakes, saying that there are all over the net minor mistake.

This does not take away the fact that TV room is Highly valued, hopeful someone can take it over and keep it alive, its should be easier to add in new content.

The TV Room was the very first presentation site I visited. An excellent site in it's day. I started visiting far less once videos were removed. If the site is to continue under new hands, video clips should be a priority.

I quite like Pete's proposition. However, it'll be sad to see the site go.

Blimey, this is what you get for only managing to get some internet access halfway through a holiday in the signal-free lands of Cumbria!

Certainly a surprise to hear this. And after the rebrand as well! Even though it is sad, I have to be honest and say I never really visited it - as it was only still images without commentary - something TV Ark does very well, and in my opinion a lot better than The TV Room ever did.

However, the closure of the site is a blow for the people who do enjoy visiting the site, and also for competition as a whole, because I have always reckoned TV Ark and The TV Room to be the long mainstays of the web as presentation sites. Sites come and go, but those two have stayed through it well.

Best luck for the future, Mike.

Like I've said before, The TV Room was one of the first television presentation websites I ever visited when I began using the internet in 2001. It was so informative and much easier to access than TV Ark. I'm very sad to see it all come to an end, and I'd like to wish Mike all the best for the future.

As for Pete's proposition, I support it 100%. Please keep The TV Room's content alive, it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

I'm sure your proposition is one in a long line of propositions your proposition has proposed.

EDIT: I should add I have no say in the running of the site and am in no way involved in what happens to it or its content following Mike's announcement...

I just couldn't pass up the tongue twister opportunity Smile
