Ouch. With your 4630 posts I think you could do with a break from here.

At least Hyma's 4630 posts are intelligent and legible, unlike yours, which tend to be a complete and utter pile of cybertripe.

That's very true. Wtt is a right pain in the back-side. All he does is bring people down with his pointless comments, which no one wants, or needs to hear.

An ANNOUNCEMENT has been made on The TV Room homepage:

Quote:
During July, a number of changes will be implemented that will have a significant impact on the main TV Room website. Dedicated news and weather coverage will shortly disappear from the main part of the site. However, in the coming months, much of this material will appear on The TV Room Plus site, within the TV Presenters section and elsewhere. The TV Room will now focus primarily on channel branding.

The technical make-up of The TV Room site has remained pretty much unchanged since the late 1990s when it first went online. However, we've now reached the stage where an overhaul is required. Due to the fact that we're a non-profit operation and somewhat low on resources, it's not possible to achieve this goal within a short timeframe. So, we're going to take this opportunity to start again from a blank canvass and reconstruct the site in stages.

Later in July, the current main site will be archived off and replaced with a new look, restructured site. It is likely that the new version of the site will go online with limited content. However, any new developments in channel branding will be covered on the new site as they occur. It is possible that links to an archive version of some sections of the existing site will be made available during the build of the new site.

that would make sense. I'm doing similar things with my computer with regards to sorting stuff out.

The TV Room is an enormous site so I could imagine it would take a while to update. Plus if I remember correctly, Mike said he wanted to update a lot of the clips to higher quality.

Out of interest Mike, would it be possible to simply plonk the old site onto a subdomain and then start afresh on the new one?

Some material from the existing site is being dropped and will go offline in the near future. However, in such cases, it is more than likely that similar material will appear over on The TV Room Plus over time.

Where sections are being rebuilt, it is likely that some of the original material will remain online in an archive for a temporary period. However, the less popular pages will probably go offline.

This is a huge undertaking. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end!
