I don't know if anyone else has noticed the amount of companies advertising ways of putting a presenter on your website. Most of them have very poor actors that will clearly never make it as a proper tv presenters.

That could all be about to change! I've just come across this site http://chloros.co.uk and they have proper presenters. You might recognise a few! There's an example on their homepage. Has anyone else spotted any websites like this?

It's a great idea, good to see so many familiar faces on there!

Yes. A real mixture of old and new faces. Think they need Terry Wogan though - surely he could teach them all how to do their jobs!

Is it? Can you honestly say that if you went to a website and a presenter started talking you wouldn't mute the sound? Its a gimmick to extract money from companies with more money than sense.

I'm very glad you 'just came across this website' to make 2 out of your 3 posts on the forum so far about it... Laughing

But yes, video streaming presenters is just one of those in-vogue things with some sites at the moment, but like most design trends/gimmicks it'll probably pass. Generally though it's something done by smaller sites, in order to give them credence (as some people trust a website with a face more). Smaller sites have smaller budgets, which is why they generally hire the bog standard no-namers to advertise their service.

It'll be interesting to see whether slightly bigger names really attract enough interest (the website has apparently only been registered to a sole trader since May, and doesn't have a fixed address or landline listed... so it's quite easy for it to disappear again if it fails).

Depends who the presenter was.

If it was a Faceless Presenter with a Prison Warden's voice then no, if it's a familiar face then Yes.

I heard somewhere that this was being run by Steve Gaisford. Can't remember where, though.
