Could we copy existing pages from Wikipedia and add them from there? Apologies if this is a stupid question.

I have no objections....

I'm looking at taking existing Wikipedia content and rewording it and correcting some of the 'facts' when they're wrong, objections to that? Not quite plagiarism more fast content creation!

Go for it Mike.

What a Good idea!

Saying that I might finally be able to put BACK the missing photos of the ITV night time page if created such a page on the website:

I be honest WIKI pages for STV and Grampian do lack on press but is fully up-to-date so the best could be copy and past BUT with more details on CA?

actully we could do the same for Night time, CA for overnights etc.

Sounds good to me.

I don't blame you Rob, it is clutter. I've often thought however that a wiki might be the best way to deal with this, and hopefully remove it from this site. I mean surely it allows them to document it far more methodically.

Obv I can understand you not wanting it on your nice shiny new site though Wink

I am prepared to try a Rota talk page, using Sky News as an example. If it proves popular, I'll extend it to BBC/ITV and so on...

Rotas, here and on the wiki, could be limited to a table with extra parts for stand in's etc? rather than pages and pages of rubbish?

I'd like to ask more people if they can, in their spare time, contribute to this. It's a bit bare at the moment and I don't want to speak on behalf of Rob as it is his site, but I personally would like to see the wiki have the full Wikipedia articles copied at the least for the main channels or companies. We've already started copying the infoboxes to some pages.

I think if we get to that point, adding smaller articles or making the pages more personalised than Wikipedia's will be great, especially for people like 623058 who can't seem to get their way on there. I don't want to sound overexcited about this, but I really think this is a great idea and complements the TV and TV pres community well.

Hopefully in the coming weeks I'll have some more time than I do currently to work on the wiki more.

Thank you for the kind words Phil, and a big thank you to those who have put content on the wiki so far. I appreciate it.

Just registered. I'm an admin at Logopedia, so I can probably help with image galleries.

By the way, the front page is protected, so I can't do it myself, but a vertical divider needs adding between UTV and ITV2.

EDIT: Uh oh, major problem. Anglia's page had no logo on it, so I just uploaded it, but it's an SVG file and I'm seing error messages.

You need to fix that pronto, it seems that currently, the wiki lacks SVG support. I reuploaded it as a PNG, but it's only a matter of time before someone else finds the same problem.

I wouldn't call it a MAJOR problem. It's not as if the world will end if it isn't fixed. If anyone does know how to fix it, please let me know, I'm still new to using a Wiki, so some things are a bit strange.

As for the front page, it's now unprotected.

I presume there needs to be a version of Inkscape installed to generate the thumbnails - it's probably not included because of differing licence terms.

Infoboxes aren't set up either. I was trying to make one that said something like 'This article has been created using a recent revision of a Wikipedia article. It may need editing to take out invalid code or broken links' to use on articles for the time being, but the infobox template is not set up correctly.

I have copy and paste Will "most" of the Scottish tv page and hopeful will do the same to night network pages from wiki on to the new place, But course I will NEED time to upload pics of the branding etc... and CA list

I take it there no place for refs? I think I need some help with the info boxes..

Hopeful the next stage would be to get the CA and Idents pic uploaded to be used..

I can claim copyright to both pages as I help created and built them up Wink
