Fixed. Set the page to update on a timer, forgot to change the time settings when I moved the site over to the new host!

Bit of a bug on the Wales Today page. The 2008-2013 link leads to BBC Three 2008.

I don't know. It depends on whether anyone on the team has access to it.

I have noticed that on the UK Vote 2010 page the Election Night link, links to the BBC Regions Vote 2010 Page.

I'm aware of that, it's on my to-do list. Should hopefully fix it soon.

On an experimental basis to begin with, TV Live is going to begin hosting its own videos. To start with, coverage of CITV's Spring 2013 collection of idents.

EDIT - Hasn't exactly gone according to plan. Will fix it and update later...

...why?

Surely it's a waste of resources given YouTube will do a great job for nowt; and additionally will mean the videos are more visible?

I've been looking at various options in the last few days as to how to serve video content better since I received a copyright strike on YouTube for an ITV ident* I uploaded. You're right in what you are saying Will, YouTube does a great job in hosting video content, but to be fair, the Ident Gallery does a superb job with its video content as well, and I want TV Live to be doing the same kind of thing.

With the new hosting, I have unlimited space and bandwidth which means I'm able to upload video content to the site, whereas before I was limited on that front. Also, I'd be able to upload video presentation from the Sky channels, something I haven't done since the original YouTube channel we set up when TV Live launched was taken down, which would boost our content even more.

Like I've said, it's only a trial run on a couple of pages to start with (once I get the code working). I'll see how it takes off, and if it works I'll roll it out across more of the site, if not, I'll forget about it and move on. Simple. Smile

I see. The copyright reason did cross my mind but I didn't think there was a precedent for complaints (apart from toward a Mr. Williams born in 1976); I wonder why it's upsetting ITV?

TIG and TV Ark do a great job with their in-house players, you're right, but I still feel it'd be better to contribute to YouTube and have a central resource linking back to the individual sites.

The reality is, if ITV or anybody else wants these videos taken down, you'll be asked to take them down either way. I rather suspect that some lines have been crossed; I'm aware of at least one case of a user getting a copyright holder to retract a complaint, perhaps ITV could be convinced to do the same?

The difference of course being Rob can easily remove any content requested of him with nothing else being in jeopardy. Of course on YouTube once you reach three strikes then you're out. All of your videos are lost and you have to start all over again as I'm sure you know and as Rob is all too aware.

In my experience it's not actually the broadcasters themselves most of the time but some strange agency that seems to get their kicks/profit out of taking down YouTube videos usually based on the music in the clip over anything else.

Ultimately hosting the videos elsewhere is the safer option. The absolute worst that can happen is that Rob/Rob's hosting provider will have action taken against them if they don't remove content they are asked to. But why wouldn't they?
