One final thing that I'm too all that certain on is the TV Live motto/slogan underneath the page heading of 'Anglia News'. It seems to apply, at least in my eyes, that Anglia News is keeping presentation alive, and not TV Live.

Yep, I'm aware of that, just have to change a little bit of code.

Thank you for your comments guys, we're taking everything that's been said on board so we can improve it.

That looks mostly rather good - clean and uncluttered. You've also used a nicer way of the 'Related Links' stuff too.

I agree with Phil on the white, speckled background being annoying after time. Also, the 'Back to the top' arrow at the bottom of the page drags itself up quite slowly, which could be irritating if you were on a very long page. That's just my two cents. All in all, very different from the current rendition, but very good at the same time. Well done!

I too like the new design but I agree with Critique about the 'keeping presentation alive' text. I actually like the 'tv static' background, better than just white.

EDIT : Now it has changed to 'ITV News in the East of England' much better.

James, I wasn't saying have it just plain white, of course that would be boring. I meant just make the background lighter or have a white filter over it so it's not as annoying on the eyes. Smile

Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. I suppose they could make the background lighter and still keep the TV static design. Very Happy

The loss, however, of drop down menus?

We're looking into alternative options for the drop down menu system, as the original drop-down menu design we designed wasn't very good.

Please also address these to concerns to Mr A. Hicks Esq., chief turtle of TV Forum, who appears to have a similar problem concerning thread titles.

I've always thought that it makes more sense to have the thread title the main title, with the forum name and description smaller.

Just to address a few points...

The 'TV static' (which is not how I thought of it until it was dubbed as such in this thread, but I guess it fits in!) is something which I would like to give a bit of time to to gauge other's opinions. I hope this isn't unreasonable, as I'm more than willing to adjust it if more people agree with you both.

The template name is actually 'TV Live Paper', not Argos (or Static!). The previous (well, current) template was TV Live Circles.

Critique, could you explain the back to top arrow issue more? I don't quite understand. It should stay exactly where it is on screen, are you saying it scrolls down with the page and keeps reappearing when scrolling stops? If so, that might be an issue with your browser (I don't know) - what are you using?

Finally, as I said earlier, the cosmetic change is as a result of the new features, not the other way round. As I was browsing the site a few months ago, I realised that the things I wanted to add to the site would be done properly through a new layout, and a new layout really called for a new theme, and so on. The aim with this look is to get as close to perfection as we can usability-wise and feature-wise (not that I'm suggesting it will be), and hopefully the new look will make adding new things later much easier.

Well, yesterday I gave you a sneak preview of how the menu pages would look with the sites new design. Now, here's something else for you to enjoy. Here's a new look content page.

What I was saying about the 'Back to the top' button, is that, when clicked, it seems rather slow to bring the page back up to the top. However, testing this on the Anglia News page, it would appear that it always takes the same time to reach the top, and how far you are down the page reflects the speed it scrolls back up?

EDIT: Just taken a look at the new style content page, and that too looks very nice. Love how the description is beside the captures, not above or below. So yes, that looks wonderful too! Well done!

Cheers Critique for the kind words.

We've still got a little bit of work to do, all the pages have been adapted for the new design, but we've just got to work on the menu pages and the drop down menu system.

We hope to launch the new look within the next 2 or 3 weeks.
