There's a box somewhere down the page asking you to put some text in. If you don't, it won't work.

I experienced this yesterday. But there wasn't any security code or text to enter.

There isn't; you just put anything.

EDIT: Just looked, to help you out. The first section (with username and password) has a box; the last one in the section. Just randomly hitting your keyboard will be enough.

And anyone can program that to be inserted in seconds.

No wonder we have the pleasure of Paul Akinbola returning seventeen times a week.

How about this type of CAPTCHA? Would strike off the illiterati fairly well I'd imagine.

I like the sort of captcha that asks simple questions to make sure you understand English - if you can't, you're deemed to be a spammer or a troll.

For example:

What is this?
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c8/Nuvola_apps_kteatime.png
  1. A cup of carrots
  2. A cup of coffee
  3. A cup of shoelaces

Who is Martin Shaw?
  1. A woman who sings songs
  2. A brothel run by Brian Dowling
  3. A man who pretends to be someone else

Just as a failsafe, links are provided to explanations of who a person is just in case they don't know who they are, but is a legitimate person trying to register.

Then what would people like 623058 or others (eg people who are dyslexic, not very good at spelling) do?

'The new site' will have that with such questions as
1) When did BBC Two start? 1864, 1964 or 2004?
2) What is the capital of France?
3) Maths: What is 7x7?

I was thinking of setting up a premium rate phone number you'd have to text the answer to.

Screw 'em, they'll live.

Near genius.

And I suppose if you did that you'd be appearing on S**tterball next? Laughing

One thing I would suggest though is to have an extra table in the database of questions and answers, which are randomly selected on each page load - otherwise spammers could easily program their bots to answer just three questions, and then dump their cargo of sex and drugs offers on the Newsroom.

Any body noticed that the main links that are usually at the top of every forum are missing, also the link to read my new PM message does not work at all on any page, emotions will not activate, and when you post you can not highlight all of the text, it only highlights one word.

And i'm getting scripting code messages.

Anybody else having trouble?
