Technical issues affect us all. I'm with plusnet and was having connection issues. Plusnet said if they came to look at it and the fault was ours it would cost £65! After conducting my own investigation it turned out that the ADSL splitter was broken and was rectified with a £6 replacement!

£6? For one filter? There's a pack of 3 on Amazon for £6.45.

I've got about two dozen in my garage (I think they're breeding) and would happily have sent you one for nothing.

I don't actually need any filters (my provider upgraded the phone face plate to one of those pre-filtered ones when I upgraded to fibre) and thus I donated all the filters I'd already bought at the time to my parents house, which isn't pre-filtered. I've found another six at mine since then, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are more to find (breeding? Smile), but they'll all join the others at some point.

But thanks anyway Smile Ne1L C might be interested though, but that's up to him.

Thanks for the offer I’ll let you know if I need them in the future.

Was it a more recent change of the faceplate? When Openreach upgraded my faceplate in 2014, I still have to use filters as they only put a telephone port in, but is perfectly fine for FTTC.

Mine was done back in 2012.

"How can a TV suddenly die without warning"- I couldn't even tell you why I started that thread seeing as we didn't replace any of our TVs around that time....

Apparently you did, or at least had one repaired: https://tvforum.uk/tvhome/tv-suddenly-die-warning-17158

Shuddering at the memory of CRT overscan.

Must admit to not being a fan of the stopping of Generic Threads. They provide a valuable sense of importance of the subject. My post in the Channel 4 thread was specifically put there as it was more than just related to GBBO. Indeed the nature of the skit could well cause troubles ahead.

It makes perfect sense to put it in the Bake Off thread since it was about something from Bake Off, if it becomes a bigger thing (which I doubt) then it’ll get spun off into another thread called Bakeoffgate or something surely?

I considered it beyond Bake Off, considering the circumstances. It would seem to be making fun of a serious situation, being approved accordingly. It could be used as further ammunition in respect of the future direction of the channel.

Anyway I've had my say and we'll move on.

Closing the thread did seem to be a bit heavy handed for one supposedly misplaced post.
Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

Maybe on this occasion it would have been better just to split the post and then merge that post back into the Bake Off thead and treat it as an innocent mistake. The way it was handled looks very North Korean to me I have to say.
