A lot of members using the old TV Forum have been getting confused over the Twitter shortcode not rendering correct URLs for them. On Neon, the shortcode transforms into a nice embedded tweet.
As a Neon user, this isn't a problem - however, for the non-Neon users, it's a problem. I was wondering how long (in approximate terms) it would be until the switch is made? If it's not too long, hopefully the users of the old forum can put up with it for a bit longer.
The problem is the url auto parsing doesn't realise that ] isn't part of the url. The code needs to be altered so that it still shows up as an embedded tweet on Neon, but shows up as a regular link on the old TVF (assuming adding the embedding feature isn't possible on the old version).
Yes, I know what the problem is - hence why I said there is a problem in rendering correct URLs.
I think the only problem I had with the forum once I made the effort to adjust (which took about 20 minutes) was the latest post previews that appeared under each thread title - and there was an option to turn it off (which I did).
I prefer the grey background, personally - it looks more modern. I would suggest to people having eye strain issues to turn down the brightness on their monitor, or turn on a light in the room.
The grey horizontal line placed before signatures needs to be made clearer - I keep reading the signatures as if they're part of the post. However, it needs a 2 or 3 pixel gap for those of us with signatures with transparent backgrounds, so they don't appear underneath the image. If the line were extended to 300px, it would match the maximum size of image signatures.
Possibly the only other thing I miss is the post count. I always liked to see how many posts I'd made, and now it's gone I don't know when to buy myself a cake for post 1,500 without going into my profile summary page.
Other than that, I love Neon.
In terms of stats it's about 10% visiting Neon, 90% the old site.
I think this is skewed by the fact the normal forum is the default. But I'd say that's quite a good figure.
