Don't see the problem really. I've had the username 'itsrobert' since 2001, when I was 14. Hasn't done me any harm.

There are others who have haven't made such sensible decisions. Look at the guy who was called 'mefornina' or something like that in honour of the newsreader Nina Hussain, you'd hope he'd be really embarrassed about that now.

Well, if I'm honest, I don't really like 'itsrobert' these days, it does sound like (and in fact was) something that took a 14 year old 2 minutes to come up with. But I've had it for so many years that it would be just wrong to change it, if for no other reason than I'd suddenly become unknown.

I'm not advocating that usernames can't be changed. Just that it would be handy to have the option to see a user's username history somewhere on their profile. I really don't think people would be judged on old usernames when most people probably wouldn't even bother looking. It would just be handy for regulars to be able to check who someone is/was after a username change to enable continuity.

It means you know that a member who is now called, for example, Ident I Dad was your mortal enemy VDCocker41.

This has always been a major concern to me Wink. Not sure if a record of previous usernames is good or bad, there have been some users in the past who have changed them and changed from being annoying little twerps to intellegent-ish posters in the process. Then again it would be useful to have a little note when a username is changed in the same way new members are flagged up.

Yes, even a temporary measure would be useful. Maybe not an entire history as I'd recommended earlier, but maybe some sort of automatic announcement to say, for example, "itsrobert" has changed to "Rob". And that could disappear after a week or something?

I love the new look!

Only suggestion would be to drop the size of the text on the Thread descriptions...or shorten them. I like to look down the topics easily and read what I want...but it seems less easy to tell what's been updated.

Noticed all the little changes this morning. They look really good!

Ooh yes the changes are very nice. Have carefully wiped my cookies from both computers to see if read topics stay in sync. Fingers crossed Smile

Agreed, love the new extended description view. I'm keeping it as default, it's really handy to see the latest posts and is engaging me with more threads.

Asa, can I beg once more for the logo to be optimised for the iPad's retina display? It's only a tiny niggle but I love seeing sites nice and crisp on the latest gen. Would be a great touch!

Another iPad request is for the Ratings predictor to somehow be touch friendly, perhaps a text input for the rating in addition to the slider since the slider can't be moved on iPad and it's increasingly my primary machine! Smile

Hmm, wouldn't it make sense on the extended view to have the creator/replies etc on the top line next to the title and description with the preview taking up the whole width below? Otherwise there is a lot of whitespace and it pushes the other topics further down the page.

Hmm, I don't seem to be getting individual new replies at the moment, just this odd little floating ribbon.

Just some additional info. That ribbon was sending me to the lowest post on the page with unread posts, then upon my return to the forum page was sending me to the next one. Perhaps it is all the links overlaying one another?

Sadly I decided to press mark all forums as read (yay!) before this occurred to me so I never delved into the HTML to check.

Hopefully it should be ok now, apparently a relative position in a table cell is invalid, who knew!

I won't be able to do any other updates for a few days but will get a few more tweaks done before it goes live.
