I assume it's because the page was loaded before a post's datestamp and the username data was entered in the database (server going sluggishly?), making the homepage automatically reset to the UNIX epoch which is midnight 1970. A similar effect can be achieved if you remove the CMOS battery from many computers, or leave them unplugged for a long amount of time, where the system clock will reset to 1970.
Just want to drag this up to declare rothwell wrong, as posts are entered into the database in a single query. The 1970 date is basically how the forum interprets a 0 though. He's ok with that bit

Absolutely no need for the insult towards him.
However, 623058, if a comment or question is clearly being directed at the moderators you are best either PMing one of us or alternatively using the 'Contact Us' link.

Well I think this is a bit barmy. Surely it makes sense to only have one thread, I always presumed my one was a general ITV thread which at the moment was focussing mainly on the schedule relaunch. We have talked about presentation in there before amongst other things, and I had planned to change the title on the 14th to allow for discussion of ITV in a broader sense.
Is there no merge feature in this version of phpBB?

There's a merge in this version (with a mod), it's been used many a time.
However, I agree with you - when there are multiple versions of a thread (i.e. in this sort of scenario), people keep adding things in the 'wrong' thread, and it starts getting silly to have two separate threads covering what becomes the same issue.

I recently experienced a similar revelation. Suddenly everything fell into perspective.
Though I agree, merging them would make a mess. So close one. And not mine. Ahem.

Oh heck, what am I doing? Is the most important thing in my life right now the issue surrounding the crisis of there being two ITV threads?

I'm a bit dubious about this "I own the thread" attitude. I'm not singling you out pad, it's a symptom of forums at large. You are merely the OP, who began a conversation. A conversation requires a greater number of participants than 1, therefore you no more own the thread than anyone else contributing to it. I expect you've posted in the other ITV thread too.
Highhorse moment over!!
