Can us 'rank & file' post at UK Radio.com or Digital Spy, or is that only for the privileged few?
If it's for the 'privileged few', that's classist, jobist & any other 'ists' I can think of ! The public has opinions too, not just you media lot !
UKonair.com (as the forum site is now called) is open to all (though I think sometimes they close it to new signups, a bit like Asa did here for a while).
As for Digital Spy - don't worry - they'll take any old riff-raff.
Slow? How slow? TVF isn't slow to me. And I don't give two hoots whether its phpbb or vbulletin or a chinese laundry. So long as I can say BBC1 dancers are crap I'm happy.......
Funny how some people can find fault in even the most faultless of things.....TVF's features are what they are - it's up to you to get used to them rather than Asa to conform to your personal foibles.
I find the discussion on here riveting and engaging, and I only have a passing interest in TV presentation, having dabbled in a bit of design and been fascinated by the whole science of TV imagery and graphics. I don't even want to work in the TV industry. Am I the type of user that should be excluded? Ostracised? Belittled or ignored? I hope not!

Well said Alexia! You are one of many who do appreciate what people do rather than put them down all the time. Asa has done a spendid job in setting up and maintaining this forum for many years. Unfortunatley, there are far too many people here who just want to constantly criticise people's efforts. If you looked at them closely you'll probably find that these are people with the least achievement!
If people don't like the scripting or format or speed, they should just go and whinge somewhere else. Instead they prefer to stay and spoil it for everyone else!
I think you are the type of user that Asa should be encouraging. Someone who is actually interested in TV presentation and who is appreciative of a place to share that interest!
Welcome to TVForum. So far you've proved yourself to be a member who's not afraid to speak up for himself - great. I hope you enjoy posting here.
Re TVF management. Take a look at some of the threads here and on Metropol. In particular this one. A lot of people have suggested ideas concerning the improvement of the forum in the past and quite a few other ideas concerning different designs, speeding up the forum. Nick Harvey has been very vocal about this subject in the past; unfortunately not so much now.
This is because many people are of the opinion that their suggestions have gone unnoticed and unthanked. A lot of people believe that Asa ignores the suggestions of longer term members when all they seem to be trying to do is help him out doing a difficult job and suggesting changes. We all appreciate Asa does a good job in managing the costs of the forums and keeping them open, certainly very popular is this place, however some of us have tried to find ways to help in the past, and some have taken his replies as saying "back off, I don't need you.".
Another factor in the current TVF situation is the moderation. We used to have three very good moderators here; Isonstine (James), itsrobert (Robert) and MrTomServo (also Robert!). Alas other commitments in his life have meant that Robert2 has left our forums and has stepped down as a moderator, and James seems to stick to *the other place* at the moment, meaning that the brunt of the moderating task had to fall to Robert1, who people criticised for being too cosy in, and sticking with, the BBC World thread.
Therefore a new moderator was needed, and with much mirth, Charlie Wells was appointed by Asa. No consultation, not even a poll on the other place was added to ask members opinions. So we had a moderator none of us particularly liked or wanted. So, with the feeling that this post may suddenly go missing, Charlie locks threads which don't need it, goes onto the other place with an awful high-and-mighty attitude ("whilst I don't usually respond to topics like this" - regarding a forum HE is a moderator on) and encourages the trolls seemingly. Indeed he locked the "TV Forum - The Train" topic because he believed we were having a potshot at the moderation. Well sorry but if we can't say what we want to say, then we'll all just have to bugger off somewhere else.
Please respond to this moderators and Admins. We would love to hear from you, and we hope you do listen.
Once again welcome Steve, enjoy posting.
All the best,
James
EDIT: Who added "bugg3r" and "ar5e" to the swear filter?!
I noticed soon after I had a forum ban from the Newsroom for telling some immature little five year old to f*ck off because they were posting tripe. This never happened in the days of more tolerant moderators did it?
Let me guess... someone used the "Report a Post" button. Brilliant.

"Must have been a push n an arf"?
Good grief. Could one of the moderators not be the one to decide when someone is posting rubbish and maybe speak up?
